| Nursery News | Winning Gold in Scotland !!
We have just returned from Ayr Flower Show after winning another Gold medal and a trophy. The event took place in the grounds of Rozelle Park in Ayr and was on for 3 days (6th to 8th August) The weather was lovely and sunny, with the occasional rain shower but quiet warm and the show itself had a good turnout. Our display hasn't been seen in Ayr for over 11 years yet the show holds fond memories for both of us, we thought it fitting to make the long 8.5 hour van journey up to help them celebrate the shows 50th Anniversary, Allwoods 100th Annviersary and David & I's 10th year together!! Winning a Gold medal and trophy helps make it special and adds yet more fantastic memories to this super show. | Royal Winnings
Sandringham Flower Show graciously invited us back to exhibit in the Royal Marquee on the 28th July and following all the preperation on the nursery we were pleased to receive a Gold medal for our display. This is held in the grounds of the Royal Estate at Sandringham very close to the church the Queen goes to on Christmas Day. The show enjoys the royal patronage of HRH Prince Charles who attended with his wife Camilla. We were very pleased that they stopped to look at our stand and particularly admired our exhibit of 'Purple Jenny' this delightful garden pink caught the Prince's eye with its bold colour and scent. Edward (5) was on his best behavour this year and presented them with a copy of our 'Potted History' book. We noted Prince Charles was wearing a pink in his button hole, which we believe was Haytor (but didn't like to ask!) | On the nursery....
On the nursery we are busy propagating after the intense spring we had, and although we sold out of many varieties in June we are happy to report that the majority are now back in stock and available again, though I can confirm most/all Border Carnations & Perpetual Flowering should be available again in September.
Our shop continues to be open throughout the summer though this warm weather is quite hard on the watering side of things but the plants themselves are showing little stress from the heat. Plans are afoot for the autumn selection of plants to tempt you people who are local enough to visit us.
