Nursery News

The big news is the arrival of Daniel, born on 23rd September. Mum and baby are doing well and settling into a routine, we have even taken him to his first flower show when we visited the RHS Halls in London for their October show. With many entries from the British National Carnation Society members, it was great to see so many different varieties of pinks & carnations on display.

Our latest Mail Order catalogue is out now and if you haven't received your copy click on the link "Catalogue Request" and we will send you one. We have two new varieties released this year, Linfield Kathy Booker & Linfield Doreen Ashmore, both are stunning, good strong growers with lovely scent. You will find these detailed in our New Plants section, along with all the other new introductions for this year.

We have had a busy summer propagating plants for the autumn, and it has been utterly delightful working in the stock house with the heady aroma of all the flowers around us, it really makes it a joy to work! Autumn is a great time to get plants delivered, grown up and established before the winter and this also gives you a longer show of flowers. Please note, some varieties do benefit from over wintering in a cold frame/greenhouse, such as patio carnations and trailing carnations. Our stock plants are looking really good with lots of fresh cuttings ready to be taken for the Spring.

Some of you may have noticed the changes to our website and we hope you will agree the improvements have made a big difference, especially with our new "How to grow pages" which we hope you will find of use, we hope to be able to add to these pages as time goes by and value any comments you have on our website. You can reach us easiest by clicking on the "contact us" link at the top of the page.

May we wish all customers both old and new, Happy Growing

David, Emma & everyone at Allwoods.
