Allwoods was started in 1910 and became the worlds leading Dianthus specialist, their breeding breakthrough in the early 1900s revolutionised plant breeding with many techniques still used around the world. Many of our early varieties are still as popular as ever - such as the famous garden pink 'Doris'.
Today Allwoods holds a unique and impressive plant collection like no-other in the world, the Dianthus range alone (some 400+ varieties) culminates the whole species all under one roof, from tiny alpine pinks flowering at just 2" to Greenhouse Carnations reaching upto 6ft. There is something for everyone, every garden and every colour - some varieties even date back to the Tudors dynasty!!
It is this passion of growing that has kept Allwoods the leading growers and suppliers of Dianthus for over 100 years. But the range doesn't just stop at Dianthus, they also have a large and very interesting collection of Pelargoniums (Geraniums to you and me), unusual Succulents and many other garden plants and with so many plants the only way to see our full range is through our website.
Allwoods also send fresh, award winning carnation blooms by post. Allwoods Flowers by Post have been sending fresh flowers through the post direct to your door since 1915. We use only the highest grade of flower and hand pick and pack each order ensuring you the best bouquet possible. Meet the family....
Allwoods is a genuine family run nursery, working together day to day. David does the growing and is happiest out on the nursery surrounded by plants. His Grandfather had a unique pelargonium collection which has been passed down to him and now incorporated into the Allwoods range.
Emma grew up on a Cactus & Succulent nursery, near Skegness, when she was 9 years old she met David at a flower show and in 2000, when he needed someone to run his office she moved (along with some of her succulent plants!)
Their two children are often seen on and around the nursery 'helping' out and with living on site they offer a truly hands-on approach to growing with an abundance of knowledge of the plants they grow.
