Where to find us:
We are situated on the A273 between Hassocks and Burgess Hill - just look out for the big pink signs. From the North (London) follow the M23/A23 until you see the signs to Burgess Hill (A2300) then follow A273 signs to Hassocks & Brighton.
Opening Times:
From January 3rd 2012 til March the nursery will be open Monday to Friday 9-4.30 only, being closed at weekends during this period.
It’s well worth a visit and there is plenty of parking, coach parties are also welcome. There’s a pub just down the road that serves food all day. If you are travelling from afar or making a special journey we do advise you to phone in advance to check stock availability.
We still have our end of season pinks sale going on only available to customers visiting the nursery.
Want Spring colour? We currently have in stock a good range of potted bulbs to plant now for an explosion of colour in spring including Hyacinth bulbs ideal as gifts. We have a number of Winter/Spring hanging baskets and outdoor pot arrangements to brighten the doorstep or patio at this time of year.
Our Cyclamens add a splash of colour - perfect for brightening up these rainy days! Why not plant them in a hanging basket with some Ivy(which we also stock) for a lovely display, as well as primroses and primulas.
If your looking for an early start with your sweet peas we already have pots suitable for continued over wintering in the greenhouse. Our Spring plant range will become available from the end of February / beginning of March it includes a wide range of basket and bedding plants, as well as a large choice of Geraniums and Fushias. We are more than happy to make up baskets for customers with their choice of plants.
Our nursery always keeps an extensive range of hardy perennials 4 for £10 as well as alpines 3 for £5.
Looking for something a bit different? We also stock Aloe Vera and a range of Cacti from just £1.50 - they make an unusual gift or you can plant a selection in a bowl - perfect for the office or conservatory.
Mimosa Pudica - better known as ‘Sensitive Plants’ are a fascinating addition to any home – so called because when you touch them the leaves move and fold up –great fun for kids!
You can find an array of herbs at our nursery from the traditional; rosemary, basil and chives etc– perfect for jazzing up your meals, to the more unusual ‘Hot Lips’ for a striking display and even Catmint – it drives cats barmy!

We also stock a selection of Lavenders and Sedums - a welcome addition to any garden - bees and butterflies absolutely love them!
FLOWERS -Looking for a local floral gift why not pop into the nursery shop where we supply our fresh cut carnations, we can make them up into a bouquet for you to take including cell wrap, message card, flower food and care instructions. They can be purchased by the stem particularly useful for long lasting flower arrangements, or to pop into a vase when you get home. We are more than happy for you to pop into the shop to arrange sending flowers as gifts throughout the uk.
Our nursery stocks all this and much more, with special offers throughout the year- just pop in and have a browse.
You are also welcome to collect any plug plants and gardening aids from the range on our website and in our catalogue, however please phone your order through before hand to allow our staff time to pick it out for you - especially during busy periods.
Allwoods are a family nursery and we like to keep things a little more traditional and rustic than the large garden centres. Please do not expect a ‘plant supermarket’ – it’s just not our style. However, you can expect to find some real gems at affordable prices and as we’ve been going for over a hundred years – you can rest assured that our plants and flowers are top quality and grown with care.
