As you may see from my orders, I've decided to re concentrate on Carnations again. My last effort some 6 years ago was wiped out by red spider mite. Intend spraying with your recommended spray in future. Hope to deal with you again soon.

I just wanted to say what a great pleasure it is to see Violet Clove in your catalogue. My parents, who were married in 1934 were given Violet Clove as a wedding gift for their new garden. I was enchanted as a child with it's beautiful fragrance. When the parental home was sold I took cuttings of the carnation, it doesn't win prizes for its looks but it's scent is out of this world and brings back happy memories of my childhood when it comes into bloom in my own garden. To loose Violet Clove would be a disaster.

I thought you might like to know that I sowed these seeds on the 3rd of this month and the first germination occured 5 days later. Two days ago I pricked out the first 19 seedlings and there a similar number still to be done. I have sown many seeds over many years and this has to be a record for germination. Tremendous value!!

Hi David & Emma, It was good to meet you at the open day at your nursery. We very much enjoy David telling us about the history of Allwood’s in particularly how Monty crossed the greenhouse carnations with dianthus to give the dianthus repeat flowering and that the all the pinks after that can be traced back to Monty’s breading program. We could have stayed looking at your stock plants for another 2 hours and bought even more pinks. Thank you for hospitality it was worth the journey

Your catalogue arrived at just the right time . I had lost a lot of her plants due to the 2 very wet summers and then very cold winter and was planning to replant a border( to be honest the only border ) in my front garden . I have not grown any pinks for years and this prompted me to do so again. Like many people you reminded me of pinks that were grown by my father and grand father, particulary one that I thought of as Mrs Sinkins with dark red splashes . Dad does not know the name, it came from a friend of his father. I am sure that I have identified this as Sam Barlow. Wedding Veil is a bit too light in colour. I can be so precice in this because I spent a great deal of my early years crawling, sitting, lying reading and generally hanging around a grass area edged by large clumps of this pink. It made a geat impression on my eyes and nose. There were others of course but this is the one I remenber most. I have been searching for it off and on for about 30 years. Well done for saving and reviving these plants and best wishes for the future.

My sister-in-law sent 2 doz. carnations through you for my birthday. They were delivered on about Dec 19th. I left England yesterday {Jan. 4th} and left them with my elederly parents as the flowers were STILL in perfect condition! Today I recieved my new order for Perpetuals, Border Carnations & Pinks. Quality of all cuttings was superb. As you will know this is my 3rd order, first was last March, for 10 Perpetuals, since March this year have had a minimum of 10 flowers per week, plus loads of cuttings. In March this year we visited the Nursery & bought 3 more Perpetuals, 6 Border Carnations & 5 Pinks. Perpetuals are now about to flower, Borders & Pinks have flowered & were superb throughout the summer. Thanks for real quality.
