How your plants will arrive

We have been sending our plants through the post for over 100 years - in fact 2020 saw us celebrate our 110th Anniversary!
 

We have our own designed sturdy packaging and we try to be as environmentally aware as possible using material that is recyclable from our postal boxes to the black inner trays that neatly hold each individual plant, thus ensuring they arrive at your door in perfect condition.


All the plants we supply and post (unless stated otherwise in the product description) are individually rooted in large jumbo plugs of environmentally friendly peat free compost (coir), ideal for you to plant straight into a 3 or 4" pot, basket or container, each labelled and placed securely in the box.

For varieties that are sent in pots, we wrap each plant individually in paper and then carefully package in boxes. 

 

Please take into consideration that we are dealing with a living product, so some soil may come loose during transit - and although unsightly on arrival it can be brushed or washed off and will not cause the plants any harm.

 

With every plant order we include a FREE copy of our 16 page 'Growing the Allwoods Way' written by our own nurserymen. It is packed with tips and advice to help you get the best from your plants.

Plant Guarantee
We fully understand that we are sending living plants so there is always the possibility that something may go wrong along the way! Most nurseries say that once they have delivered the plants to you they are your responsibility, but we offer a full 30 Day Guarantee.  If, at any time during the first 30 days, you are unhappy for any reason then simply return the items back to us, ideally use the original packaging.  If you are unable to use the original packaging then a stout box or padded envelope may work.

 

If the item is not faulty or damaged it must be returned as supplied, labelled and in good condition and in its original packaging, we reserve the right to withhold a percentage of the refund value & will not refund the postage costs.  On receipt of the returned items we will replace them or refund your money.

If you phone or email to tell us about a plant you are unhappy with, we will ask you to return it.  If you do not return the plants to us that you are unhappy with, then we cannot replace or refund them.


​We can only keep our standards high by investigating the cause of problems. We feel 30 days is a very fair guarantee period, as once the items have left us we have no control over their care, so please do not return plants after that length of time or expect us to refund or replace them.

 

If for any reason you are unable to return problem plants to us, we will not be able to replace them however we will record the information to monitor any problems a particular variety may have and to ensure our service remains outstanding.

Regretfully Allwoods (Hassocks) Ltd does not pay the cost of returning an item to us. Your statutory rights are not affected.
